September news
What a summer! I hope you and your family had a great one too. Now it's back to school and a more regular schedule for Red Yarn. This week I resume all my regular shows, listed below. Other than trips in early November and around the holidays, this schedule should stay consistent through the fall. Lots of weekend shows this month: World Forestry Center, St. Johns SwapnPlay, Slabtown Fest and more.
My new album, The Deep Woods, is being duplicated as we speak! CDs will arrive in mid-September. The official record release show is Sunday, October 20 at Village Ballroom in the 3-6pm range. Save the date! It will be a Deep Woods costume party with my full band performing, great opening acts, food & drink from Oregon Public House.

July news: Shows all over Oregon!
Happy summer! I hope your family is enjoying the sunshine and all the fun times that come with it. My summer is going great--I mostly finished my upcoming album, The Deep Woods (which I hope to release in September), and just returned from a much-needed vacation. Now I hit the ground running with library shows all over the state. I'm performing a new show called Red Yarn's Garden Tales, which combines some of my best stories, songs and puppets with new material (including a precious new critter named Gracie Groundhog). If you are in Portland, you can catch the debut at 3pm this Tuesday, July 9th at Northwest Library or in the suburbs throughout the summer. I'm also performing locally most weekends, including this Saturday, July 13 at 4:30pm during the Mississippi Street Fair.
Below you'll find all of my performance dates in July. If you have family or friends in the towns where I'm headed, please forward this along to them!
In August I'm leading two summer camps--"Puppetpalooza" week at KCLC from August 5-9 and "Friendly's Got Talent" music camp at Friendly House from August 19-23. If you're looking for a fun, creative option for your school age child, check out these camps.
You can get updates on my shows, album and other adventures by following me on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. I hope to see you and your family soon!
Best,
Andy Furgeson

Community Recording Session!
You are all invited to my Community Recording Session at the Village Ballroom, this Wednesday, June 19 from 9:30-11:00am.
I'm in the process of recording an album of animal folk songs that I've collected and adapted over the years. The album, called The Deep Woods, is nearing completion, but now I need your help! Join me on Wednesday morning to record group vocals, stomps, claps, and crowd noises. The Village Ballroom (700 NE Dekum St.) has generously donated their lovely space for us to use, and the wonderful folks at Woodlawn Swap'n'Play are co-hosting.
This is a FREE event, with bagels, fruit and coffee donated by Tastebud, Woodlawn Coffee & Pastry, and Cherry Sprout. Participants will also receive an advance mp3 of a song from the album.
All ages are welcome, but please note that this will not be a typical Red Yarn show. It will require some patience and quiet focus as we work through each song. If you and your children enjoy singing, stomping and clapping at my shows, then I would love to have your voices on my record!
See the Facebook event and flyer below for more info, and please spread the word! Thanks for your support, and I hope to see you on Wednesday!
Best,

June newsletter & calendar
Wow! Summer is nearly upon us. Hard to believe that it's been a full year since I took the plunge into Red Yarn Productions as my full-time job. Thanks to all of your support, it's been a success and an amazing experience so far. I'm excited for the summer--many changes and big projects are afoot. I hope your family has some fun plans too!
Due to a busy summer schedule of out-of-town shows, camps, and travel, I'm going on hiatus from my weekly shows after next week. I will miss seeing so many of your families each week, but you can catch me in Portland most weekends. I will resume my regular shows in September. During June, July and August I'll be at Mississippi Pizza each 3rd Saturday from 4-5pm, and at Treehouse Boutique each 4th Saturday morning from 10-10:45am. Plus libraries, street fairs, and other events (see flyer and June schedule below).
I'm also making good progress on my album, The Deep Woods. On Wednesday, June 19, you're invited to a Community Recording Session at the lovely Village Ballroom from 9:30-11am. Bring your family to help me record group vocals, stomps, claps and crowd sounds. There will be free snacks and coffee, and participants will receive an advance mp3 single from the album. All ages are welcome, but know that this will not be a typical show. It will require some patience and quiet focus. I would love to have your and your children's voices on my record. Thanks to Woodlawn Swap'n'Play for helping organize this free event!
For schedule updates, news, and photos from my summer adventures, you can follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
